ASV: FALL 2020 SCHEDULE:
MEASURE FOR MEASURE
RICHARD III--this class is now FULL, although you can be put on a waiting list if you wish

This fall's cycle will consist of EIGHT classes on TUESDAYS, 7-10:30PM, organized around MEASURE FOR MEASURE and EIGHT classes on THURSDAYS, 7-10:30PM, organized around RICHARD III. Because of Covid-19, the class will be taught via Zoom, unless somebody discovers a very reliable form of telepathy.

Mask worn incorrectly.

This cycle is bizarrely related to the previous one. MEASURE FOR MEASURE is the evil twin of ALL'S WELL, taught last cycle. The two plays have many structural similarities. But in ALL'S WELL, everybody is trying to do his/her best for the others. In MFM one of the characters is evil, and interested in nobody's good but his own, so the play, though frequently prettied up, does not have a happy ending for the heroine.

I am trying to teach the Second Tetralogy, but there's no way I'll get the course book done for HENRY IV Part 2 by October--so it will have to wait until spring. RICHARD III is the last play in the First Tetralogy, and it is an amazing play. I'm sure you've heard of it.

There are no free sample classes this cycle. Shetler Studios, where I was accustomed to teach the free classes, went out of business during the pandemic. You may audit any of the Zoom classes you wish.

ALL THE CLASSES ARE BEING TAUGHT VIRTUALLY, OVER THE INTERNET,
DURING THE PANDEMIC OF COVID-19.
I APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE, BUT IT'S NECESSARY.
SHAKESPEARE IS IMMORTAL, BUT YOU'RE NOT (nor is teacher).

If you are brand-new student--that is, have never worked with me before--the cost will be $50/class, payable all at once or in two $200 lumps. If you are a former student from no matter how long ago, you will pay the old rate. If you need a special payment plan, please discuss it with me.

You can mail me a check or checks to:

IN ANY CASE, IF YOU WISH TO PARTICIPATE, YOU MUST RESERVE IN ADVANCE. EMAIL ME delossbrown@prodigy.net or
CALL ME (212) 865-1127, PLEASE.

I try to keep the class at a reasonable size, so that people can work on their monologues. This cycle you can see I've had to extend class time by 1/2 hour to try to fit more monologues in. Last summer the class always ran over.
